"I conceived and produced the MGM Classic Film, FAME, (1980) retaining the stage rights to develop it as a legitimate musical.
I was represented by Mike Rosenfeld of CAA (Creative Artists Agency) who made the deal with MGM for the movie, FAME .
MGM suggested ten names of possible directors they would approve to do the film. I chose Alan Parker
who had just directed Midnight Express and was looking for his first American film project."
