Musical "Fame" to Be Staged in Seoul

" Fame," a musical well-known for Irene Cara's same-titled song, will be staged in Seoul.

Similar versions of the musical have been staged in Korea before. But this time the upcoming musical will be performed by foreign actors and actresses who have performed on Broadway in New York, as well as presented road shows throughout North America. The performance will be given at the Dome Art Hall of Seoul Grand Children's Park in Neung-dong, Seoul, from May 13 to 22.

"Fame" features the love and enthusiasm of students at an art school who dream of becoming stars. In the musical, young people of various ethnicities who have come from many places to pursue their dreams will give high-spirited dance and musical performances featuring jazz, hiphop, R&B and ballads, as well as piano, drums, saxophone and violin.

The work already won acclaim as a film and television series before it was adapted into a musical.

The upcoming show will be given by the same performers and staff members who have been touring North America since September of 2003. Nearly 50 artists including 22 foreign actors and actresses, 17 staff members (including the producer and director), and seven band members will come from the United States for this performance.
