If you haven’t seen some of Nashville’s best salsa dancers in Fame-The Musical, you have one weekend left to catch the show. Music City Salsa’s Leader Chris Martin, Rawsam Alasmar, Belma Ilsmailovich, Tonya Miller, Rotonya Troup and Ginny Primeaux joined forces with actors/dancers of the Circle Players production directed by Tim Larson. In addition to the Nashville-based performance and competition Latin dance team, Martin Barrientos and Raven Hilton of Ibiza are joining the dancers onstage this weekend.

Set in 1980-84, the final years of NYC’s High School for the Performing Arts, Fame-The Musical, chronicles the relationships, dreams, and trials of tenacious and talented students from freshman to senior year.

Dressed in leotards, leg warmers, off- the -shoulder sweatshirts, and headbands and bandanas, dancers performed with such high energy Olivia Newton John and Jennifer Beal would have been proud back in the day of Physical and Flashdance Two of the main characters/ star dancers wowed the audience: Caleb Reynolds as Jack with his acrobatic performance and acting edge and Chelsea Hough as Iris with her prima donna perfection. Audience admiration of her form and statuesque beauty was only surpassed by their surprise at learning she is only fifteen. Faith Kelm was convincing as Carmen Diaz. Julia Nettles and Hannah McGinley were crowd pleasers with their big, rich voices.
